Priority One Launches New Workforce Web Site

Posted 8/17/2010

Just in time for fall career fair season, Priority One is launching a new workforce web site focusing on internships and career pathing for 15 to 25 year-olds interested in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor community.  The site, MyTernNow.com, features internship listings, a searchable employer directory, apartment listings, and education and training opportunities, as well as information on the quality of life amenities in our area, such as art, culture, nightlife, and recreational offerings.

The long term goal of MyTernNow.com and related programming is to get young people interested in career opportunities in the Corridor and to build a workforce pipeline.  By attracting a talented worker pool to our area and keeping home-grown, educated youth in our community, the Corridor economy will continue to grow and we will continue to have a quality, available workforce.

In order for the site to properly educate the next generation of workers about the excellent career opportunities available in the Corridor, employers are asked to create a profile on the website.  By creating a profile, employers are helping to develop a 21st century economic development workforce tool.  After a profile has been created, employers may also choose to list internships or co-op positions to help with short-term workforce needs.

Priority One representatives will promote the MyTernNow.com site at high school and college campuses in Iowa and across the country this fall, as they make stops at career fairs and other career-focused events.
