Priority One, in partnership with the Iowa City Area Development Group, has launched a plethora of workforce services to serve companies in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area. As our commitment to a vital and prosperous economy, our organization actively recruits and retains the qualified, skilled workers necessary for area businesses.
Services to attract quality workers include:
- Employment Web site: The most comprehensive regional employment Web site, www.corridorcareers.com, provides employers with an online recruitment tool that is constantly being marketed by area partners.
- Alumni marketing campaigns: Postcards and advertising through the state’s three regent institutions and the region’s four-year colleges spotlight corridor opportunities to alumni living outside of Iowa. All marketing efforts highlight CorridorCareers.com
- Recruiting Activities: Traveling to numerous recruiting fairs throughout the United States, Priority One promotes career opportunities and quality of life offered within the Corridor. Area employers assist in recommending highly credible universities and national diversity events to seek out the most qualified candidates.
- Employee Recruitment Packet: A creative marketing packet designed to assist employers in their own recruitment efforts provides a candidate information highlighting the region’s assets including arts & culture, business, community, dining & shopping, education, healthcare, housing and sports & recreation. Also included in the packet is a DVD providing testimonials from those who made the choice to relocate to the Corridor.
- Corridor Employment Directory: To provide a low-cost option for area employers to highlight opportunities within their organization, an employment directory CD was created. The CD provides a company overview, career opportunities, contact information and Web site address. More than 7,000 CDs are distributed to those interested in opportunities each year.
- Corridor Career Fair: The Corridor Career Fair allows local employers to showcase career options and recruit at a personal level with job seekers. The event also provides workshops for the job seeker looking to fine-tune their skills. The Corridor Career Fair is sponsored by community organizations including the Iowa City Area Development Group, the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Area Chambers of Commerce, Gazette Communications, Iowa Workforce Development, Kirkwood Community College, the University of Iowa and Priority One.
